Transport Minister Botcha Satyanarayana blamed the Opposition parties for continuing agitations over hike in power tariff in the State.

The Minister, who was on a tour of Krishna District on Sunday, alleged that the TDP, YSRC and Left parties were continuing power tariff agitations only to benefit the rich and the capitalists in the State.

Even after the Government announced to collect tariff at old rates, from consumers at the lower end of economic strata, the Opposition parties were trying to make it an issue, he criticised.

As regards action against the MLAs, who violated the whip and voted in favour of the recent no-confidence motion in the Assembly, Mr. Satyanarayana, who is also the Pradesh Congress Committee President, said that action would be taken against the rebel MLAs soon.

“We recommended for action against the rebel MLAs, who deceived the party, and the Speaker will take a decision soon”, said Mr. Satyanarayana.

Earlier, the Minister visited Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Devastanam and had darshan of Goddess Kanaka Durga Devi.

He performed special pujas to the deity atop Indrakeeladri.

Later, he conducted ‘bhoomi puja’ for five works, valued at Rs.1.73 crore in Vijayawada West Assembly Constituency.
