Kharif crop loans to the tune of Rs.335.68 crore have been disbursed in Krishna district, according to the figures submitted to District Level Review Committee (DLRC) which met in the Sub-collector’s office here on Thursday.

According to figures available till June 21 the action plan performance has been slow with just 14.86 per cent achievement with total credit disbursement amounting to Rs 1,251.95 crore against the target of Rs 6,698.81 crore.

The banks disbursed short term crop loans to the tune of Rs 335.68 crore against the target of 1,997.35 for the quarter (that is 16.81 per cent). The annual target for short term crop loans for 2013-14 was 3049.39 crore.

Krishna district Collector Buddha Prakash M. Jyothi urged the bankers to work to meet their targets in disbursing loans according to targets. Bankers were asked to give utmost importance to financial inclusion. They were told to adhere to the Road Map submitted by them under the Financial Inclusion Plan 2013-16 and implement it as per schedule.

The Government of India introduced Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme in five pilot districts in phase I and eight districts in phase II in the state for 25 different schemes. Banks should open accounts to all beneficiaries and seed their Aadhaar numbers into the bank account of beneficiaries and upload them or map them with National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).

It was the responsibility of the Lead Bank Manager to collect the list of all beneficiaries from the Government departments and supply the same to the banks and ensure that bank accounts were opened.

Action plan

At the end of the review Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu released an action plan for disbursement of loans to hawkers and vendors in urban and semi-urban areas. The Collector said that the repayment/loan recovery rate was 95 per cent from vendors. Every branch of the different banks should extend credit to between 20 and 25. DRDA PD Sivasankar said that vendor required very small amounts to do business, but they ended up borrowing the same from unscrupulous money lenders who charged exorbitantly high rates of interests.

Extending loans to hawkers and vendors would generate a tremendous amount of good will for bankers, the Collector said. Gannavaram MLA Dasari Balavardhana Rao and heads of various departments attend the meeting along with representatives of all banks during business in the district.
