A labourer, Vemula Renuka (40), died and another, Daravath Shankar, suffered injuries when a lift suddenly came down in a building at Patamata in Vijayawada on Monday.
Police said the lift, which was under maintenance, fell down from a height killing Renuka on the spot. She was a resident of Kalanagar of Krishnalanka, while Shankar is a native of Marripeta village of Warangal district.
The accident occurred when the labourers were at work. The Patamata police registered a case and took up investigation.
