NTR University of Health Sciences to start post-doctoral fellowship courses

The Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences is going to start post-doctoral fellowships in four subjects and the courses will begin on August 1.

Health University Vice-Chancellor I. V. Rao talking to The Hindu said that fellowship courses which are going to be started are in Pain and Palliative care, Neonatology, Obstetric medicine and Critical care medicine.

Prof. Rao said that ten Centres of Excellence have been identified for conducting the fellowship courses.

The Centres of Excellence are established hospitals and medical colleges that have been conducting the related course for more then five years.

There will be two seats in each sub-speciality, one for a service candidate and the other for open candidate. In the next phase, fellowship courses would be offered in other subjects like Diabetology, Geriatric Medicine, Spinal Surgery, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Trauma Care and Clinical Virology.

Candidates with MD, MS and DNB degrees, or their MCI equivalent are eligible to apply for the one-year post doctoral fellowships, Prof. Rao said.

Nursing course

The Dr. NTR Heath University would also introduce new courses for nursing and dentistry post-graduates. The syllabus and curriculum for sub-speciality courses in critical care, cardio-vascular surgery and neurosurgery were being prepared, he said.

The Dr. NTR Health University had sanctioned five research and development projects to be conducted in four medical colleges – Gandhi Medical College, Hyderabad, Sri Venkateswara Medical College, Tirupati, and two private Colleges, Mamatha and Narayana, -- Prof. Rao said.

He said the counselling building, that was under construction behind the university administrative office, would be ready for the next counselling session.
