Mr. Rao who has been recently elected as secretary of NTR Stadium in the elections held after 10 years, said that the athletics track, shuttle courts and the tennis court complex would be given a complete facelift.

Constructed in 2002, the NTR Stadium located at Brindavan Gardens is the most sought after place for morning walkers, sportspersons and has sports facilities for basketball, athletics, skating, shuttle badminton, tennis besides two separate gymnasiums for men and women.

But over the last 10 years, the stadium has been neglected by the Guntur Municipal Corporation and has lost its sheen. But the newly-elected body has promised that it would put the stadium back on track.

Led by the secretary, the members of EC- vice-president Oruganti Anka Rao, joint secretary Sampath Kumar, EC members Mekala Aruna, Sushma Chowdary, R. Nagarjuna and Koti Linga Reddy have been meeting elected representatives and officials seeking support to develop the stadium.

Works pertaining to improving the facilities would begin from January, he said.
