The Telugu Desam Party's foundation day celebrations were held amid enthusiastic participation by cadres at the party office in the city on Monday. The leaders spoke about the services rendered by the party founder N.T. Rama Rao and the party's incumbent president N. Chandrababu Naidu to the people of the State.
TDP polit bureau member Uppuleti Kalpana and general secretary Panchumarthy Anuradha were among those who participated in the celebrations.
Sweets were distributed and garlands were placed on the photos of NTR. They hoisted the flag of the party on the occasion.
Party city leader Boppana Raghavendra Rao and others were also present.
Ms. Kalpana said that the TDP always stood in the forefront of serving the poor and the needy under the leadership of both N.T. Rama Rao and N. Chandrababu Naidu. She asserted that the two leaders were, indeed, friends of the poor because of the various programmes launched during their stints as chief ministers of the State.
Ms. Anuradha said that the TDP, since inception, had always focussed its attention on solving the problems of the poor in respect of food, clothing and shelter.
In the last 28 years of its existence, the TDP had ruled the State for 16 years by winning over the respect and adoration of the people of the State.
Many other TDP leaders also spoke on the occasion when they touched upon various activities being taken up to strengthen the party on a continuous basis.
They also listed the activities that were being taken up to show what kind of a constructive role of an opposition the TDP has been currently playing under the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu.
The party foundation day was celebrated at different places by way of distribution of clothes, poor feeding and the like.
