The environs of N. St. Mathews Public School came alive on Monday as students vividly took part in the annual sports day event.

Students from kindergarten to high school presented different cultural programmes leaving everyone spellbound. It was an enjoyable day for parents as well as the dance performed by their wards in colourful dresses was a feast to eyes.

The event began with a welcome dance after students lit the cauldron followed by a spectacular march-past by contingents.

Clad in Santa Claus dress, the kindergarten students participated in racing to collect chocolates from a bag placed on a table. Another group vied with each other and elegantly raced till the finish on bicycles. Half a dozen tiny-tots took part in a similar contest holding earthen pots on their heads amid music. These performances won thunderous applause from their parents and other visitors.

Visitors were delighted to watch Miss NSM contest, peacock dance, mass drills coupled with several other performances. Student leaders read out the annual report of the school listing the various achievements in the current academic year.

MLA Gadde Rammohan, who participated as a chief guest, reviewed the march past. He congratulated the school management for imparting quality education to students and advised the students to focus on reaching new milestones.

He later gave away prizes to students who excelled in their respective classes and general proficiency. Principal Chinnappa Reddy said that the school has been imparting quality education for the last 40 years.
