Now, a 29-kg laddu for the Lord

Sri Balaganapathi Swamyvari mandiram will organise Vinayaka chavithi celebrations from August 29 to September 7.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Mandiram president Grandhi Srinivasa Rao said the temple had been organising the festival for last 28 years. In view of the 29 year celebrations, a laddu of 29 kg will be prepared for the Lord. The presiding deity will be decked up in as many as nine forms.

Rajitha Kavachalankrita Sri Balaganapathi, Sri Balachandra Ganapathi, Nijapada darshana, Sri Panchamukha Ganaapthi, Sri Lakshmi Ganapathi, Sri Vidya Ganapathi, Siddhi Buddhi sametha Ganapathi, Sri Vijaya Ganapathi and Sri Mayura Ganapathi will be the alankarams.

The committee will distribute books, pens and prasadam to 2,500 school students on September 3 coinciding with Vidya Ganapathi alanakaram. A laksha kumkumarchana will be performed on September 5.

Sri Lalitha Sahasra nama parayana, laksha kumkum archana, suhasini pooja, will be performed by women devotees.

Sahasranamarchana, with 1,008 sarees, ashtottara satanamavali with 108 sarees, and khadgamala pooja with 174 sarees, will also be performed, he said.

Meanwhile, women devotees will bring holy waters from river Krishna in 150 kalasas on August 31. Five types of fruit juices will also be used in abhiskeham. The festival committee, Balaganapathi Mahila Mandali chalked out a series of programmes for nine-day festivities. Decoration of Ganapathi using sweets, camphor etc., galarchana, annadanam, Ganapathi kalyanam etc were some of the events, he said, adding, everyday, special poojas will be organised at the temple.
