Notification issued for ZPTC/MPTC elections

District Collector and District Election Officer S. Suresh Kumar on Monday released the notification for conducting elections to local bodies.

With this, the stage is set for conducting elections to 57 ZPTC and 913 MPTCs, after a gap of eight years. The dates for elections may be held in two phases during April 6-9.

Joint Collector Vivek Yadav would be the returning officer for ZPTC elections and special officers of various mandals would act as returning officers of their respective mandals.

Nominations

Mr. Suresh Kumar said that candidates began submitting nominations on Monday and the last date for submitting nominations is March 20 and the last date for withdrawal is March 24.

Arrangements were made at the ZP office to receive nominations and seven officers would be supervising the process, he said.

Later, Mr. Suresh Kumar inspected the electronic voting machines to be used in the forthcoming civic polls in 12 municipalities in the district. Regional Director of Municipal Administration G. Srinivasa Rao, Superintendent of Police, Guntur Urban, Gopinath Jatty accompanied him.
