Students of various institutions evinced interest in clarifying their doubts on the courses available and the avenues in fashion designing.

Samana Institute of Fashion Technology (SIFT) Chief Executive Officer Samana Moosavi said, fashion designers are having great demand in national and international markets.

She asked the students to take up the course for a bright future.

Speaking at an awareness talk on ‘Alternative careers in Fashion Technology’, organised by The Hindu on the SIFT premises on Monday, Ms. Samana said that due to changes in corporate sector, the opportunities in fashion technology and related courses were abundant in different sectors.

Fashion designers can get placements in textile designing, showrooms, retail sector, production units and even become entrepreneurs. The course is having a great demand in metro cities and many students from the SIFT secured jobs in reputed companies, she explained.

‘Sought-after course’

Responding to questions posed by the students, the SIFT business analyst Sheeba Abbas said fashion technology was the most sought-after course by majority of the students, like other professional courses.

Samana Institute is offering Diploma in Fashion Designing, B.Sc and P.G. Diploma in Fashion Designing.

The course is affordable for middle class families too, Ms. Sheeba said.

Students from Sarada Degree College, Siddhartha Women’s College, Gowtham Degree College, P.V.P. Siddhartha Institute of Technology, Nalanda Degree College and P.B. Siddhartha Degree and PG College attended the programme.

Later, the students went round the institute, had a look at the latest designs prepared by the students and interacted with them.
