A new cricket training facility — Sundar Cricket Foundation — was inaugurated by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) vice-president Gokaraju Gangaraju at SRR & CVR Government College premises on Monday.

As many as 13 nets were laid — eight turf, three astro and two matting wickets — with provisions for boys and women trainees as well.“This facility is spruced up on one acre land. This centre will help budding cricketers of the neighbourhood colonies like Maruthi Nagar, Machavaram, Seetharamapuram and Gunadala to learn the game in a proper manner,” said chief coach Sundar.

He said the objective of the academy was to help players identify their strengths and find ways to tackle and overcome their weakness in the weekly sessions with the help of seasoned coaches. ACA director M.S.K. Prasad said more number of academies were the need of the hour to spread the game to the grassroots in the city

Similar to Sundar Cricket Foundation there are few private academies like Siddhartha Public School, Chaitanya Olympiad, Nalanda and Dinesh Academy which are taking up cricket training along with main and sub-centres of the Krishna District Cricket Association.
