The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel, who saved many lives during natural disasters and accidents, staged a demonstration on their capabilities in rescuing people stuck in high rises during earthquakes.
More than 150 personnel of NDRF 10{+t}{+h}Battalion participated in the operation-cum-awareness programme organised at its base camp at Mangalagiri on Friday. Andhra Pradesh Special Police (APSP) Additional Director General Gowtam Sawang and Commandants of various APSP battalions from all over the State attended as chief guests for the demonstration.
The rescue, emergency and medical teams, communication wing, life saving teams and the technical support wings, who were positioned on the spot demonstrated the capabilities of the NDRF to rescue people stranded in a buildings in the event of an earthquake.
The rescue operation covered a wide gambit of events from securing entry into the building purportedly damaged due to the quake, saving inmates trapped in the debris by removing walls and rubble. The demonstration encompassed first aid to victims and rushing them to the hospitals nearby.
The NDRF distributed brochures on the dos and don’ts that should be followed during different natural calamities.
The 10{+t}{+h}Battalion force will organise more community awareness and preparedness programmes in the coming days, said its Commandant Prasanth Dar.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Gowtam Sawang said the demo was enlightening. He appreciated the NDRF personnel for their dedication and hard work to save the lives of people during calamities and accidents. Later, the Additional DG went round the stalls arranged on various life saving equipments at the base camp.
