NDRF all geared up to ensure safety of pilgrims

Five teams, each comprising 45 personnel, deployed in A.P., TS

Officials of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), 10{+t}{+h}Battalion, will focus on ensuring safety of devotees taking a dip in the holy waters.

NDRF is planning to deploy its men to patrol the ghats along the Krishna during the 12-day festival both in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The personnel, comprising expert divers, swimmers, and medical teams, will be on duty round the clock from August 12 to 23. The teams will also help other officials at the ghats, railway and bus stations in case of an emergency.

Speaking to The Hindu , NDRF 10{+t}{+h}Battalion Commandant Prasanth Dar said five teams (each comprising 45 personnel) had been deployed in the two States. The teams were sent to Vijayawada, Srisailam, Mahabubnagar, and Nalgonda.

Each team will be headed by a Deputy Commandant or an Assistant Commandant, and will be equipped with all life-saving kits.
