NCPCR member inquires about facilities in old GGH

August 07, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 07:53 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) member Rupa Kapoor inspected the old Government General Hospital (GGH) in the city on Saturday.

Following allegations that an infant died due to ant bite and a five-day-old infant was abducted from the hospital a few days ago, Ms. Kapoor visited the paediatric ward and inquired the staff about the incidents.

The Commission member asked the doctors about the equipment, security arrangements, medical facilities available and the inpatient details.

Doctors explained that the infant was born with less weight and died due to some complications, but not due to ant bite.

‘Submit report on

scarcity of equipment’

Ms. Kapoor asked the hospital management to submit a report to the Commission, if they are facing scarcity of equipment and drugs, which would be referred to the government.
