Nandi award for film to be contested in court

October 26, 2012 12:44 pm | Updated 12:44 pm IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Former MLA Adusumilli Jayaprakash says he will question the conferring of the ‘National integration’ award to the film ‘Jai bolo Telangana’ in the High Court. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Mr. Jayaprakash said the film should not have been selected for the Nandi award as per the guidelines.

Showing a copy of the film’s screenplay, Mr. Jayaprakash said the movie, which provoked regional differences, should never have been selected for the award.

Guideline number 23 listed the kind of films that should be considered for the award, he said.

Stating that the attack on the makers of ‘Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu’ was unprovoked and unpardonable, he said none of the so-called leaders of the separate Telangana movement had condemned the TV programme ‘Dasara Bullodu’, which reportedly portrayed people of the Telangana area in bad light.

The programme was telecast by a channel owned by Telangana Congress MP G. Vivek, he added.
