He holds parleys with party leaders and constituency in-charges

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N. Chandrababu Naidu has sought opinion of party leaders on forging alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the wake of later supporting the A.P. Reorganisation Bill 2013.

The TDP leaders aired divergent views on the alliance with the BJP. Mr. Naidu was, however, was not satisfied when some of the leaders felt that Narendra Modi factor could tilt voter mood.

Mr. Naidu persistently asked them to explain how ‘Modi factor’ would work in Seemandhra if the BJP voted in favour of Telangana.

Some senior leaders said alliance should be decided once issue of division of State was taken to a logical conclusion.

Until then, the leaders felt, the party should maintain status quo, sources say.

The TDP president was concerned about the worst possible impact on Seemandhra if his party joined hands with the BJP.

Mr. Naidu is said to have doubted that the BJP was likely to support unethical line taken by Congress pto pass the Telangana Bill in Parliament.

If it were to happen, the voters would not embrace the TDP that has been making strong case for Seemandhra rights.

Mr. Naidu hasn’t revealed his mind to the party leaders, but it is learnt, he dropped hints that the possibility of post election alliance could also be explored.

Grabbing the opportunity, the constituencies’ in-charge persons, referring to Vijayawada parliamentary constituency, Vijayawada (Central) Assembly segment, told Mr. Naidu that the party should retain the constituencies where the TDP can win battle hands down.

Mr. Naidu held parleys with the TD leaders on his way to West Godavari district at Gannavaram airport here on Saturday.

Mr. Naidu also met the constituencies’ in-charges and other senior leaders for a brief period at Hotel DV Manor here on Sunday, where he stay put after his return from Tadepalligudem.
