Naidu seeks a clear mandate for TDP

‘Jagan desperate to support BJP-led NDA to wriggle out of court cases’

May 06, 2014 12:17 am | Updated 12:18 am IST - TENALI, AVANIGADDA (KRISHNA DT.)/ Ongole:

Telugu Desam president Nara Chandrababu Naidu wound up his campaign in the delta heart land by appealing to people to give a decisive mandate.

Addressing the last meeting before the general elections, Mr. Naidu urged the people to give a chance to reconstruct the State on a par with the best developed countries in the world.

“It is a historical necessity to elect me and Narendra Modi. We will develop A.P into a model State,” he said.

Continuing to dole out sops and freebies, Mr. Naidu promised that every girl student would be provided with a mobile phone so that she could call up police in times of emergency. Free education would be provided to girls till the age of 15.

Defending the promise of farm loan waiver, Mr. Naidu said that he has the experience and administrative acumen to fulfil all the poll promises.

Earlier, he launched a blistering attack on Congress calling upon people to teach a befitting lesson to the party. The Congress has taken a hasty decision to divide the State without going into details of assets distribution and distribution of river waters.

“Let us show our Telugu valour and crush Congress and teach Jagan a strong lesson, since he is the stooge of the Congress,” he said.

At Avanigadda, Mr. Naidu promised to develop a beautiful capital city and make a leader from Kapu community as Deputy Chief Minister for the bifurcated Andhra Pradesh.

Addressing the last election meeting at Bus Stand Centre in the town, Mr. Naidu announced sops to woo the voters. He assured to provide jobs for youth, health cards, develop industrial corridor, drinking water plant and develop Machilipatnam Port in Krishna district. “You are dreaming of a beautiful capital for demarcated Andhra Pradesh. Please support me and vote for TDP. I will develop the State in all aspects,” Mr. Naidu said.

Launching an attack on YSR Congress party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy for trying to lure voters by supplying liquor and money, the TDP chief appealed to the electors not to bow to any kind of pressures and exercise their franchise sincerely and honestly.

At Ongole, Mr. Naidu alleged that Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy, charged with serious economic offences, was “desperate” to support BJP-led NDA to wriggle himself out of court cases.

Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy, who had come out of bail “with the mercy of Ms. Sonia Gandhi”, has sensed that it was the NDA which was going to come to power and hence the “offer from him (Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy) to support Mr. Modi to escape from court cases,” he claimed while addressing a huge public meeting at Giddalur in Prakasam district.

“The NDA, which is fighting the polls on development agenda, will win over 300 Lok Sabha seats and Narendra Modi is sure to become Prime Minister,” he exuded confidence, adding there was no need to take support from any quarter.

Winding up the party’s campaign in Prakasam district, Mr Naidu said “there is no case against me to be disposed off unlike Mr Jaganmohan Reddy. I have struck poll pact with the NDA in the larger interests of the State which needs liberal funds and a friendly dispensation at the Centre to build the residuary State.”
