: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has asked the officials to defer the date for the foundation laying ceremony for temporary capital until the bids were finalised.

Short notice tenders

Speaking to reporters here on Monday, Mr. Naidu said that the AP Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) authorities were evaluating the bids. A decision would be taken soon, he said adding, “I asked the officials to postpone the foundation laying ceremony to a later date.”

For the record, the government is contemplating inviting short notice tenders in the event the bids filed by the two firms—L&T and Shapooji and Pallonji—were not finalised.

The CRDA authorities have opened the price bid also. The quotations by the two firms were a bit high compared to the government estimates. The CRDA was negotiating with the two firms. Two firms—L &T and Shapoorji and Pallonji—have evinced interest in constructing the temporary capital. The government intended to finalise the bids by February 10 and lay a foundation stone on February 12.

It was announced that the work orders would be issued as soon as the price bids were scrutinised. The government intends to complete works before June so that it can shift the darbar . The Chief Minister has been categorically saying that the employees would have to shift to the capital city by June.

Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana earlier announced that the CM would lay the foundation stone on February 12 at 4.15 a.m. The astrologers saw it as an excellent muhurtam as it has good gurubalam .
