The erecting of anonymous vinyl hoardings with slogans of Samaikyandhra and pictures of Telugu Thalli, Potti Sriramulu and Burugula Ramakrishna Rao have triggered speculation of the launching of a new Samaikyandhra party shortly.

But for the slogans “Samaikyandhra is our primary objective, Jai Samaikyandhra is our slogan,” there is no indication of who is the individual or group behind these mysterious hoardings that have come up overnight in all the important centres in the city. Even the intelligence wing of the city police are trying to establish who is behind them.

Some are seeing the hoardings as a prelude to the launching of a party that is going to be launched either by Chief Minister N.Kiran Kumar Reddy or Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal or the both of them together.

A vernacular television channel in an investigative story a few days said that the new party would be launched in Vijayawada after the Sankranti festival.

The channel even made public details about the flag of the new party.

But political pundits say that there was little chance of the Chief Minister starting a new party because he hailed from a family that was “absolutely” loyal to the Congress. Even though he was denied Chief Minister post at the eleventh hour, N.Amarnath Reddy, the father of Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy did not leave the Congress party and has been loyal to it.

Others say that the people behind the vinyl hoards are only trying to test the waters for the launching or a new party. Vijayawada MP ordering 13 lakh T-Shirts for the Republic Day is also being seen as a similar exercise.

“A decision will be taken on the launching of a new party based on the public response to the vinyl hoards and T-shirts,” said die-hard supporters of Mr. Rajagopal.

‘People are wise’ Former Pradesh Congress Committee secretary Kolanukonda Sivaji said that there was no more space for new parties even in the fast changing political scenario. The people are too smart to see through the “old wine in new bottle” and it would be very difficult for the new party to click, he says.

Samaikyandhra activists feel that leaders of the different political parties should fight to make the high commands of their respective parties change their stand instead of forming a new party.
