Multiplexes get permission to hike ticket prices

August 09, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 08:50 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

The Home Department on Monday accorded permission to the Cinepolis Multiplex in PVP Square Mall to hike ticket prices.

Cinepolis, the Mexican chain of movie theatres, having six screens in the city was permitted to charge Rs. 150 against Rs. 125 per executive seating ticket and Rs. 200 against Rs. 175 against the VIP seating ticket. An additional Rs. 30 will be collected for 3D movies.

Citing similar permissions given to Prasads SP Entertainment LLP (Capital Cinemas) on May 26 this year, Cinepolis management has sought hike too.

Cinepolis claimed that it was providing extra facilities like recliners, plush carpeting, comfortable seating, online bookings and others and justified the need for hike. Capital Cinemas too claimed that latest facilities were being provided to audience.

The starting date for the implementation of the increased prices will be decided by the managements of the multiplexes.

Interestingly, PVR Cinemas, another multiplex in the city, is currently selling tickets for Rs. 100 against Rs. 125 as was done a few days ago.
