The percentage of the backward classes and of the Kapu community has increased in Seemandhra after the bifurcation of the State. The Congress should therefore give more tickets to them to contest in Assembly elections, demanded PCC secretaries Kolanukonda Sivaji and Akula Srinivasa Kumar.
While Mr Sivaji belongs to the backward classes, Mr Srinivasa Kumar belongs to the Kapu community. Out of the three Assembly seats in the city, one should be given to a BC and another to a Kapu candidate, they demanded. They said they would give a written representation to the PCC president and other leaders who would visit the city on Sunday evening.
Mr Srinivasa Kumar said that people had lost confidence in political system after the entry of ‘businessmen’ into it. Most of them entered politics for very selfish reasons. And they used party workers in the worst possible ways and discarded them later.
Call for a political renaissance he said tickets should be given to the party workers who worked hand for the growth of the party.
Mr Sivaji asked why neither N.Chandrababu Naidu nor Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy who were promising to take Seemandhra into a golden age, where not condemning the provocative remarks being made by TRS leader K.Chandrasekhara Rao.
He said the people should recall that it was Mr Naidu who blocked several proposals for the development of Seemandhra while he was an Opposition leader.
