Minister for Industries N. Amarnatha Reddy on Saturday launched the “Nelavari Aasthula Pampinee” (monthly distribution of assets) system, first of its kind in Andhra Pradesh, at Baireddipalle of Palamaner Assembly constituency in the district. He termed the system as unique and effective deterrent against corruption in implementation of various government schemes for the welfare of the poor and downtrodden, with Assembly constituency being considered as a unit.
After initiating the programme, the Minister addressing a public gathering said that the system was the brainchild of Collector P.S. Pradyumna intended to usher in transparency in selection of beneficiaries of welfare schemes, accountability and responsibility among the official machinery.
“This system will enhance the confidence levels of pubic in the government and also help in weeding out corrupt practices,” he said. He appealed to the officials to popularise “Call 1100” among the public as part of fight against corruption. “The available technology should be utilised by the officials in grounding the government schemes for the public good, and also to put an end to corruption,” he said.
Fixed schedules
Mr. Pradyumna said that the system would help the public to know their status in the panel of beneficiaries of government schemes, and the details would be made public in order to ensure cent per cent transparency and responsibility among officials.
He appealed to the public to utilise the “Call 1100” to put an end to corruption in government machinery. “Previously, assets distribution used to be an affair launched without fixed schedules. This new system aims at fixed schedules and targets,” he said.
On this occasion, the Minister formally launched distribution of assets worth ₹ 68 crore to the beneficiaries for June in Chittoor district. Officials of the DRDA, DWMA, Agriculture and allied departments took part in the programme.
