The involvement of two former PCC secretaries in a mock hunt for Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal by Samaikyandhra Political Student JAC has shaken the echelons of the city Congress party here on Wednesday.
City Mahila Congress president Vasireddi Anuradha called a press conference at Andhra Ratna Bhavan to condemn the involvement of the party leaders Kolanukonda Sivaji and Akula Srinivas Kumar, in the search. She said that the involvement of the two leaders was counter-productive to the struggle for Samaikyandhra.
She asked what these two leaders were doing to prevent the state from being bifurcated.
Mr. Rajagopal in all earnestness had submitted a petition in the Delhi High Court to get the acceptance of his resignation, Ms. Anuradha said.
Local leaders draw flak
Meanwhile, DCC president Naraharisetti Narasimha Rao and city Congress president Adapa Nagendram are under attack from followers of Mr. Rajagopal for not being proactive at condemning the “prank” by the Political Student JAC.
In a counter to Ms. Anuradha’s statement the Political Student JAC said that Ms Anuradha had no right to hold press conference in the capacity of City Mahila Congress president because the post was currently vacant.
It said that Akula Lalitha had taken over as the State Mahila Congress leader recently and she had not appointed anyone to the post in Vijayawada as yet.
The Political student JAC co-convenor G.S.N. Reddy in a statement condemned the “unparliamentary” language used by Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu against advocates of Bezawada Bar Association. Mr Reddy said that the MLA’s behaviour was reminiscent of his past in which he was associated with rowdy elements.
