YSR Congress Party has decided to field N. Govindaraya Vishnusri (Vishnu) as its candidate for the MLC Graduates Constituency election.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Mr. Vishnu said he would contest for the Krishna-Guntur Graduates’ Constituency and file his nomination papers on February 1 in Guntur Collectorate.

“There are 2.19 lakh voters, including teachers — both private and government — in the two districts. A majority of the voters are inspired by the welfare schemes and developmental works launched by former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. They are supporting Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy’s leadership,” he said.

Mr. Vishnu said he had designed an integrated curriculum for students of classes 8 to 10.

Counselling for Intermediate and degree students was the need of the hour. Though universities had vast campuses, there was no boost to research and development, he said, adding,

“If I am elected, a discussion on these issues will be initiated in the council.”
