January 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Twenty four-year-old Shaik Raheemunnisa, who went missing from the city along with her daughter Shaik Tabassum (4), was reportedly traced to a Bangalore-based Madrasa.

Clad in a burka, Raheemunnisa, wife of Shaik Nazeer Basha, boarded an auto at Benz Circle to attend a function in Machilipatnam. However, her mobile phone has been switched off and she did not reach the destination.

A resident of New Rajiv Nagar in the city, Mr. Basha lodged a complaint with Patamata police on Monday stating that Raheemunnisa left home at 2 p.m with the child on Sunday, and disappeared.

On Monday evening, Mr. Basha informed the police that his wife called up on his mobile and informed that she joined in a Madrasa in Bangalore. “On receiving information, we enquired with the Madarsa organisers and spoke with Rahimunnisa, who confirmed that she was in the institution.

Police, with the help of her family members, are making efforts to move to Bangalore and bring the woman and her daughter to Vijayawada,” said Patamata Circle Inspector K. Damodar.
