The body of a 17-year old girl was found buried in a dried up well behind Agricultural Market Yard at Bapatla prompting the police to launch an investigation into the incident.

Police with the help of girl's mother identified the body. A team of forensic experts are at the spot to collect evidences. Her face was covered with the chunnu (upper garment) giving hint that the girl could have been killed after sexual molestation. A post-mortem report was however necessary to confirm the report.

The girl was reportedly missing since January 6.

Circle Inspector Mallikarjuna Rao said that investigation was on and police were questioning a few suspects, including her friends and family members
