Secondary Education Minister K. Parthasarathy left no stone unturned to heap praise on Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and the Gandhi family at a public meeting held at Gandigunta village in Vuyyuru mandal of Krishna district on the occasion of the 22nd death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on Tuesday.
It was due to the strong resolve of the Chief Minister that the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s dream of having a separate sub-plan for SC/STs had become a reality, he said.
“Both Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi always worked for the economically weaker sections, and the government has allocated Rs.12,500 crore for the welfare of this segment,” he said.
The Minister, in his address, listed the various welfare schemes launched by the State government for the BPL families — interest-free loans, free tool kits to barber community, auto mechanics, and other schemes to rescue farmers or weavers from private financiers.
Earlier, the Minister inaugurated pucca roads laid at Gandigunta village at a cost of Rs.7 lakh, Anand Nagar (Rs.4 lakh), and Kakani Nagar (Rs.15.6 lakh).
Agriculture Market Committee Chairman B. Chittibabu and District Congress Committee president N. Narasimha Rao were present at the meeting.
