Animal Husbandry Minister K. Parthasarathy on Monday asked Railway officials to clear the proposals submitted by the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation pertaining to the city development, which were for long.
The proposals include construction of box culverts at Nizam gate, new Rajarajeswaripeta and Gandhi Hill, construction of pumping mains and culverts at Kabela-Jakkampudi, H.B. Colony-Jakkampudi and Market-Jakkampudi stretches, besides construction of storm water drain at Ajit Singh Nagar.
The Minister held a meeting with the officials of the VMC and the Vijayawada Divisional Railway to sort out the pending issues.
He later told reporters that the Railway officials positively responded and agreed to clear all the pending proposals.
A joint inspection would be taken up on June 24.
Irritants, if any, would be taken to the notice of SCR general manager at a meeting scheduled to be held on June 29. “We are hopeful of the VMC getting clearances immediately,” Mr. Parthasarathy said.
The Minister asked the VMC officials to speed up ongoing developmental works like relaying of roads that were dug up for underground drainage works, in the next three months.
When asked about delay in completion of the road near Benz Circle, which was causing many accidents, he assured to get the work completed in the next 10 days.
Mayor M.V. Ratna Bindu, responding to a question, said that more than 8,000 houses constructed under JNNURM were ready for occupation at Jakkampudi.
The remaining houses would be completed as per schedule. Municipal Commissioner G. Ravi Babu stated that the VMC would take up the works like box culverts under the supervision of the Railway authorities.
Deputy Mayor S.P. Gritton, Divisional Railway Manager Vasishtha Johri, Additional DRM Jayaraju, Chief City Planner P. Timma Reddy, Superintending Engineer Adiseshu and others were present.
