The 3rd Cherukuri Volga memorial mini national archery championship for boys and girls below the age of 13 years will be held at India Gandhi Municipal Corporation stadium from August 27 to 31. Over 400 boys and girls from all over the country would vie for honours in the championship, which was conceived by the Archery Association of India to encourage youngsters to take to archery.

“Competitions will be held in Indian round, recurve and compound segments. We will be providing free lodging and boarding to all the archers and officials,” said Ch. Satyanarayana, organising secretary of the championship, on Wednesday. Mr. Satyanarayana said that archers born on or after January 1, 1997 were eligible.

“The committee will conduct medical tests if it thinks an archer is over-aged,” he said.

The teams would arrive on August 27 and the tournament will be inaugurated on August 28.

Indian round for 30 and 20 metres will be conducted in the afternoon. Recurve and compound events will be conducted on August 29.

Individual and team Olympic rounds will be organised on August 30.
