The arrest of Md. Ghouse, a lecturer of Sir C.R. Reddy College, has brought the police-middle men nexus under the spotlight.

His word literally ran the writ in the Police Department for over two decades and he allegedly ran a parallel police administration with his college as the base. Being an alumnus of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), and contacts with his university contemporaries, who are now holding top positions in the police department, came in handy for him to earn notoriety as a fixer.

Finally, Ghouse walked into the lock-up after a complaint by Peddireddy Suryaprakash Reddy, a resident of Ongle. He stated in the complaint that he had arranged Rs. 39 lakh for Ghouse in return for his favour with the police department in three cases—securing an SI post for a job aspirant, land settlement in Prakasam district and a lucrative posting for a senior police officer in Guntur police range. Police were astonished to find confidential CDs of their department in the house of the accused during the raids. Copies of petitions submitted by a section of police officers to their higher ups for meritorious service medals were among the dossiers seized by the police from the house. Further investigations revealed that he extended his operations up to Nellore district.

Cops suspended In the highway killing at Pedavutapalli under Unguturu police limits, police suspended Eluru CI Ch. Murali Krishna and two constables for allegedly colluding with those who had plotted the murder. The CI reportedly took bribe to provide security unofficially for Gandham Nageswara Rao, his sons , and arranged two constables in mufti while they were returning to Eluru from Bangalore to attend a court hearing.
