Medical aid is pouring from Guntur district to the cyclone-affected areas in neighbouring Prakasam district.
Katuri Medical College, located at Chinakondrapadu village on NH-5, will conduct a mega medical camp at Addanki in Prakasam district, which has been ravaged by the cyclone Laila. Adanki MLA Gottipati Ravi Kumar will inaugurate the camp. Local philanthropists -- Parchuri Srinivasa Rao and Gorantla Lakshmana Das have extended their support. Professor of general medicine, KMC, G. Ramakrishna, will head the team of doctors.
Executive director Y. Rajeswara Rao said in a press release on Monday that a team of 30 doctors from various specialties assisted by para-medical staff will take part in the camp.
The camp will cover basic investigations, blood tests, ECG and echo tests. Drugs worth about Rs.3 lakhs would be distributed free of cost.
Mr. Rao said that about 5,000 persons were expected to attend the camp. Such camps were being planned in other cyclone-affected areas.
The hospital would also provide free emergency healthcare to the white card holders in Guntur and Prakasam districts affected by the cyclone.
