The leaders of Vijayawada Industrial Estate Manufacturers' Association have made a strong appeal to the authorities concerned to improve the basic amenities such as roads, drains, and other facilities in the Autonagar industrial area for the benefit of both managements and workers.
At a meeting on its office premises in Industrial Estate here on Monday, presided by VIEMA president B.V.S.T. Sai, the speakers stressed the need for regulating traffic and preventing outside vehicles from entering the industrial area without permission for better traffic movement. They spoke about the parking of unauthorised vehicles on the main and internal roads, which were causing a lot of obstructions to the free traffic movement.
VIEMA secretary T.V. Nageswara Rao informed members that for better regulation of traffic, it was decided to open toll gates at four places on various roads where there were frequent complaints and heavy rush. Outside and new vehicles would not be allowed at these gates unless there was justification of their entry for the purpose of local manufacturers.
The VEIMA leaders also discussed the recurring problem of electricity fluctuations, which was causing interruptions in the industrial production and also causing losses. They decided to take this to the notice of the electricity department senior officials and seek immediate rectification of the problems so that the manufacturers do not suffer in future for want of quality power supply.
With regard to the condition of roads and drains, the VIEMA office-bearers decided to seek greater cooperation of the Industrial Area Local Authority officials for improving the quality of the roads and drains for the convenience of the manufacturers and employees.
Scholarships
The VIEMA, as part of its social responsibility, made available scholarships for 15 poor students picked up from among the workers and employees in the industrial estate.
