In a shocking incident, a 30-day-old baby boy was allegedly sold by his father, N. Appa Rao, at Governorpet in the city. The deal was allegedly made through one Ramakrishna, an RMP.

According to the infant’s mother, Adi Lakshmi, she delivered the baby a month ago and Appa Rao reportedly put the boy up for sale. Appa Rao is a petty vendor at the City Civil Court. The baby boy was rescued by the Women Development and Child Welfare officials and sent to Buddhavaram Child Welfare Home on Wednesday, said Project Director K. Krishna Kumari.

Through the RMP, Appa Rao sold the baby boy to one Sai Babu, a native of Sattenapalli in Guntur district, on September 16. Following a complaint lodged by Adi Lakshmi, the Governorpet police registered a case on Wednesday and launched a hunt to nab the accused, said Governorpet Circle Inspector K. Mahindra.

“We are trying to find out the relation between Ramakrishna and Sai Babu,” Mr. Mahindra told The Hindu .
