Man held for abusing daughter

A 16-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by her father at Vambay Colony, on the city outskirts, according to police. The accused had been abusing her for the last few months by drugging her with sedatives.

According to the police, the accused Appa Rao, an auto driver, gave sedatives to both his wife and the girl saying that they were prescribed for strength.

When the mother realized that her husband was commiting the crime, she lodged a complaint with the Nunna Rural police. The accused was taken into custody and the victim was sent for medical examination, police said.

“The victim is an SSC dropout. Police are trying to find out from where the accused procured the drugs. The case is under investigation,” said Circle Inspector K. Vara Prasad.
