An agricultural labourer, Sujatha, 30, allegedly beat her alcoholic husband Hari, 32, to death at Balijapalli in Rajampet mandal of Kadapa district in the early hours on Saturday.
The agricultural labourer couple, hailing from Mudigubba in Anantapur district and living in Rajampet mandal, had a quarrel on Friday night. Vexed with her husband turning an alcohol addict and subjecting her to physical and mental harassment, Sujatha beat her husband who was asleep to death by hitting him on the head with a pestle. When their 10-year-old son raised cries, local people alerted the police.
Rajampet Rural police took the woman into custody and shifted the body to the government hospital at Rajampet for post-mortem.
