Labour Officer Buddha Muniswamy has urged construction and other workers to make use of the identity cards issued to them.
On Monday, Mr. Swamy said that the identity cards were being issued to 34 trades related to construction industry. The registration fee of Rs. 50 and annual subscription of Rs.12 should be paid. The workers could pay the annual fee for five years at a time, he said.
The AP Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Board would issue identity card/passbook to the members, who paid a registration fee of Rs. 50 and Rs. 60 towards membership fee for five years. Two photographs and photocopy of a ration card or identity card were required. A ‘maestri' (Head labourer) has to certify that the applicant has worked for 90 days continuously, he added.
