The common man and youth must also take part in the World Telugu Conference along with poets and writers to make it a huge success, Minister for Secondary Education K. Parthasarathy has said.
Speaking at the launch of the special campaign chariot rolled out for giving publicity for the conference set to take place in Tirupati from December 27 to 29 on Friday, he said the assemblies were organised in a way that made people aware of the culture and tradition of the language.
District-wise meetings were also organised, he said. As part of this, various competitions were conducted in all districts, villages, and mandals, he added. Various cultural programmes and rallies were organised along with competitions, said the Minister.
Prakash Arts Company built two chariots that would be taken all over the district, he said.
MLAs Malladi Vishnu, Vellampalli Srinivas Rao, and Yalamanchili Ravi, MLC Ilapuram Venkaiah, Assistant Joint Collector N. Ramesh Kumar, RDO S. Venkat Rao, and Prakash Arts head C.D.V. Subba Rao were present.
Protection of the mother tongue was the primary responsibility of each individual, said Bandar Divisional Revenue Officer I. Venkateswara Reddy.
The district-wise competitions organised in view of the conference were organised on Friday. Various traditional cultural programmes organised on this occasion stole the show.
Students dressed in the attire of famous Telugu personalities Alluri Seetaramaraju, Sri Krishna Devarayulu, Nannayya, and Tikkana won the applause of the audience.
A rally with 4,000 students was also taken out from the district court to the Koneru Centre in Machilipatnam.
