Sexual obsession was said to be main motive of the key accused Md. Subhani (27), who was arrested along with another accomplice by the police, in connection with the gang-rape and murder of the 41-year-old woman. The victim was gang-raped by six persons and strangled on March 15 and her body was dumped in an irrigation canal.
Subhani, a driver working in the same apartment, had reportedly been obsessed with the victim since the last six months, and according to interrogators, he indulged in voyeuristic pleasure by watching her. The accused also had a fascination for ‘fair-skinned women’ and was a regular visitor to brothels along with another accused S. Gopi Krishna (24). Both Subhani and Gopi Krishna also confessed to being addicted to watching pornographic films.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) M. Ravi Prakash described Subhani as a sexual pervert and said that he was earlier involved in another gang-rape case four years ago in Patamata area. Though the other four accused are still absconding, it is believed that all of them are aged under 30.
Psychiatrist Indla Vishal Reddy termed the behaviour of Subhani and Gopi Krishna as ‘paraphilic’ (sexual sadism) coupled with extreme anti-social personality traits.
