Mahanadu: cops from Vijayawada provide security to Naidu

May 27, 2014 11:18 pm | Updated June 08, 2016 07:14 am IST - HYDERABAD:

In an inexplicable development, a strong contingent of police arrived from Vijayawada to provide protection to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister-designate N. Chandrababu Naidu at the Mahanadu, the party’s meeting in Gandipet, on city outskirts.

Though Cyberabad police are to provide security officially to the TDP’s Mahanadu, as the venue was in their jurisdiction, the Vijayawada police led by its Commissioner B. Srinivasulu and senior IPS officer Ch. Dwaraka Thirumala Rao, tipped to be the intelligence chief of Andhra Pradesh, were seen supervising the security arrangements.

The police teams from Vijayawada, which arrived at Gandipet two days ago, discussed security issues with the local police, it was said.

“Yes, they spoke to us and elicited information about the security arrangements being made for Mahanadu and Mr. Naidu,” confirmed a senior Cyberabad police officer, who did not wished to be named. On record, it was the Cyberabad police who prepared the ‘bandobust’ scheme and drew forces for Mahanadu.
