A pall of gloom descended on the house of Takkella Suresh Babu (26), one among the 45 passengers, who were charred to death in the tragic Volvo bus fire in Mahabubnagar district.
“When we were expecting a phone call from him at 7 a.m. we heard his death on the TV channels. When we tried to reach him on the mobile, it was switched off, confirming us that he is no more,” said Suresh Babu’s father Tulasi Rao belonging to Machiliipatnam town. Suresh Babu, a B.Tech graduate of 2008 batch of S.V.R Hindu College, Machilipatnam, had appeared for an interview in Bangalore on Tuesday and was returning to Hyderabad.
“He did not come home for his birthday (October 12) as he was waiting for an interview call from a Bangalore-based MNC,” said his only sister Shanti Priya. The grief-stricken sister could not be consoled by the visitors as she was unable to stop her live memory of booking the bus ticket for his brother online from home on Tuesday night.
He made the last phone call and had a chat with his sister and father on Tuesday night and cut off confirming his journey to Hyderabad and was to arrive Wednesday morning. Suresh Babu, who had been trying his luck since he completed in 2008, was staying with his younger brother – Mohan Ranga, a civil engineer, in Hyderabad.
Except Mr. Ranga, no one in the family including his parents and sister saw him after he left for Hyderabad on job search on August 18, when he attended for a family function.
The techie does not have an account in any social networking website and was never interested in being photographed, even with the family members.
His parent Laxmi Padmavathi told The Hindu that they did not receive any information from the authorities concerned about the status of identifying their son’s body.
