The Lokayukta of Andhra Pradesh has directed the Krishna University (KRU) Vice-Chancellor Vunnam Venkaiah to submit a detailed report on the delay in starting construction of the university buildings on the allotted two sites.

According to the Lokayukta orders issued in response to the complaint No 4639/2013/BI filed by J. Srinivas Goud, the Vice-Chancellor was asked to submit the report by December 10. “I might have received the letter seeking a report on the status and delay in the construction of buildings.

However, Krishna University Registrar, D. Suryachandra Rao, is following up the case,” Krishna University Vice-Chancellor Mr. Venkaiah told The Hindu . Machilipatnam-based petitioner in the Lokayukta Mr. Srinivas Goud had raised the issue of the KRU authorities have failed to develop the university building infrastructure despite having funds to the tune of Rs. 10 crore in the academic year 2013-14.

Earlier, the University Grants Commission had released Rs. 5 crore and the AP State government sanctioned a matching grant of Rs. 5 crore to the university towards the construction of the buildings.

“Four years ago, the AP government has allotted 102.82 acres at Rudravaram village in Machilipatnam mandal and 44.45 acres in Guduru mandal to construct the university buildings. However, not even a single building has been constructed on these two sites till date,” the petitioner complained.
