City’s celebrity kid archer Dolly Shivani is all set to go global as a five-member film crew from the U.S.A will be making a documentary on the precocious archery talent.

The crew, after completing all the formalities with Volga Archery Academy chairman Cherukuri Satyanarayana and father of the three-year-old kid, will be flying down to Vijayawada on June 23 for a week-long first schedule.

“They will be making a seven-minute film during their first schedule. It will be a trailer,” says Mr. Satyanarayana.

The birth of the film was owing to Abigail Disney, kin of the famous Walt Disney family, who came forward to fund the film.

Though the film-maker was a kin of owners of the famous Hollywood studios, the film production was not connected to the illustrious company.

“The unit will use the trailer to raise funds for a full length documentary from different sources later. The crew will be paying US $350 as location fee and the academy will be featured prominently in the film so that the Americans will know about the functioning of the academy,” says Mr. Satyanarayana.

According to sources, the crew is keen on making a full-length documentary film on Shivani and use forums such as international film festivals and television broadcasts to promote the archer. “It is too early to talk about these things,” quips Mr. Satyanarayana.

Dolly Shivani shot to fame when she entered the India Book of Records recently by punching 388 points in two distances – five and seven metres in the recurve segment.

She was just 35 months when she created the Asian and India records.

Her exploits, which were published in The Hindu, were prominently displayed in The Washington Post , drawing attention of the film production unit from the West.
