Lingapuram, a nondescript village in Macherla mandal, will be creating a history of sorts on January 25 when the High Court (HC) Chief Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose will declare it as a Litigation-Free Village (LFV) in the State in tune with the National Legal Services Authority (NLSA)’s objective of resolving disputes at the doorstep of people through the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) method.
A total of seven villages (Lingapuram and Muthyalampadu in Macherla mandal, Singupalem of Repalle mandal and Anandapuram, Appapuram, Gurunadhapuram and Srirampuram in Nagaram mandal) have been recognised by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) as free from litigation after a meeting was convened with all the Station House Officers in the district to identify villages where there is less litigation and people are amenable to settlement of disputes amicably in the ADR method without approaching police stations and courts.
Announcing this in a press conference here on Wednesday, District & Sessions Judge M. Satyanarayana Murthy said the District Legal Services Authority received written information from the revenue, local and appellate courts confirming that there were no cases pertaining to the above villages pending before any court(s) or Authority. Conciliation committees were constituted to settle future litigation before the Lok Adalat bench and pass awards.
The Chairmen of Macherla and Repalle Mandals Legal Services Committees have been authorised to monitor the activities of conciliation committees. The villages have expressed willingness to settle future disputes if any through these committees.
The respective Mandal Legal Services Committees have enlightened the villagers about the advantages of getting the villages declared as litigation-free and opened legal aid clinics manned by advocates and para-legal volunteers in order to render legal services for getting the disputes resolved amicably.
HC Judge and State Legal Services Authority Executive Chairman Justice V. Eswaraiah and Guntur District Portfolio Judge Justice G. Raghuram will participate in Friday’s programme along with the Chief Justice.
