The Locked Houses Monitoring System (LHMS) app of the Andhra Pradesh police launched by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at Kuppam on July 21 received overwhelming response in Chittoor ditrict, with nearly one lakh families registered themselves in a record one month.

Speaking to the mediapersons here on Saturday, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Crime) I. Rama Krishna said LHMS was one of the most trending apps in the Google Playstore with 4.8 star ranking. The app is the brainchild of Chittoor SP S.V. Rajasekhar Babu, who initiated it in Anantapur district during his stint as SP there.

The DSP said registrations were in full swing in Chittoor, Madanapalle, Palamaner, Punganur, Puttur and Nagari. “At present, we have 100 CCTV cameras and dongles. In view of the overwhelming response, we want to seek massive public cooperation, besides involvement of banks, jewellery shops and commercial complexes,” he said and added, “On getting public request for LHMS surveillance, the police personnel of the respective areas would go the houses and install the digital equipment, connected to the command control. Any abnormal motion in its periphery would make the e-surveillance send signals to the command control, and in no time the beat parties would swoop down on the troubled spots.” .

He said, for effective reach of the app, meetings would be arranged with bankers, owners of jewellery shops; malls, and managements of temples, prompting them to install the CCTV cameras on their premises.
