District ranked second from last in all important issues among coastal districts

The third death anniversary of former Deputy Chief Minister Koneru Ranga Rao was observed, on Friday, by all and particularly those who benefited from the implementation of land reforms and dispute disposal methods recommended by the committee for which he was chairman.

Krishna district from which Ranga Rao hails unfortunately seems to be lagging behind other districts in the implementation of the Koneru Ranga Rao Committee Recommendations.

The achievement of seven coastal districts – Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna and Guntur - were released by the Chief Commissioner of Land Administration at the Regional Revenue Meeting held here in the first week of March. Krishna ranked second from last in the implementation of all the important recommendations made by the committee.

Krishna is ranked last in the disposal of form-X claims under the Record of Rights (RoR). It was also last in conducting joint survey of boundary disputes between Forest and Revenue. Krishna along with Guntur has not conducted a single joint survey recommended by the Koneru Ranga Rao Committee.

Loan Eligibility Cards

Krishna district was second from last in the issue of Loan Eligibility Cards (LECs) to licensed cultivators. It was also second from last in the granting of loans to LEC holders. Krishna was ranked better than Visakhapatnam only in the amount of loan sanctioned to LEC holders. While Visakhapatnam district achieved just one per cent the achievement of Krishna is only six per cent.

While Krishna is in the sixth place with regard to disposal of cases under the A.P.Assigned Land (POT) Act, 1977, the district was in the last place with regard to redistribution of lands resumed under the A.P.Assigned Land (POT) Act.

Inam Abolition Act

The district is also second from last in the disposal of Inam cases under the A.P. Inam Abolition Act.

The district is however in the fourth place in the reconciliation of Endownment lands with Revenue Records.
