Krishna District has topped yet again this year at the State-level in junior intermediate results by registering a pass percentage of 71.38 per cent. The district has secured the top place for sixth consecutive year.
The victory of the district acquires additional shimmer in comparison to the dismal 53.75 pass percentage of the State.
In the district, 42,584 of the total 59,662, who appeared for the exam, passed. The number of boys who wrote the test was 32,558 but only 22,656 of them passed. Among girls, 19,928 of the total 27,108 candidates, who wrote the exam, passed. Girls recorded a higher pass percentage of 74 per cent against 70 per cent among boys.
The district has enhanced its performance this academic year by 1.38 per cent. Last year, it had recorded 70.09 pass percentage.
Regional Inspection Officer (RIO) of the Board of Intermediate Education, Krishna region, P. Brahmanandam, said government colleges showed marked improvement in their performance by recording a 43.92 pass percentage against 38.44 per cent last year while in case of aided colleges, the difference was marginal.
They secured 36.57 pass percentage this year against 36.4 per cent last year. Attributing it to the well thought of action plan of dividing students into categories of above average, average, and below average and focussing mainly on below average groups by teachers,
Mr. Brahmanandam said the strategy had worked wonders especially in government colleges that had improved their performance by 5.45 per cent this year.
He appreciated the hard work put in by students and the commitment of teachers, parents, and managements of residential colleges, which, he said, had made the achievement possible.
Even as the Board of Intermediate announced the results, corporate colleges in the city geared up for celebration of the success of their respective students.
Furnishing the list of the toppers, managements of Sri Medha V, Sri Chaitanya, Triveni College and many others called for press conferences to announce the success stories of their institutes and the students who had done proud to them.
Students of Vignan Junior College, Vadlamudi came out with flying colours in First Year Intermediate exam. The college recorded a pass percentage of 97 per cent. B.Nagasai, B. Arun and Ch. Josi Babu got highest mark. n a press release, Chancellor Lavu Rathiah and executive director P. Nageswara Rao congratulated the students.
Students of NRI Academy also fared well. In a release, college executive director P. Tilak Babu said B. Halleni secured 464/470.
