Krishna is ahead of other districts in revision of voter list, according to Election Commission voter list observer C. Parthasarathy. The observer inspected booth-level centres in three Assembly constituencies of the district and visited a few colleges and interacted with students here on Friday.

Mr. Parthasarathy lauded the district administration for its work in revising the voter list. He observed that Krishna district was able to achieve 70 per cent data entry compared to the 40 and 45 per cent data entry work in other districts.
The observer said that according to population ratio 3 to 4 per cent of the voters should be in the age group of 18-19 years. But, the percentage of youth in the particular age group in the district was less than 0.5 per cent.
Efforts should be made to enrol all eligible youth in the electoral rolls to increase the ratio, he said. He said that the measures that were being taken to prevent duplication of the names of woman voters, who had moved after marriage and other voters who moved from one area to another was laudable. The same methodology could be used in other districts too, he said.
Booth-level officials should take care to ensure that no errors were made at the booth level itself. The involvement of political parties as agents for revision of the voter lists did not obtain good results, he observed.
