The 5th kids Koran recitation and memorising competition conducted at the Automobile Technicians’ Association Hall in the city by the United Forum for Quranic Studies (UFQS) was a grand success.

A total of 55 children reached the finals of the event conducted on Sunday from among 9,000 contenders from various parts of the State.

Winners

Abdul Ahad, Hina Izma, Bishara Sukhun and Afreen Harmain won the first prizes in the 3-4, 5-6, 7-9 and 10-12 age groups respectively, according to a press release by UFQS Chairman Md. Dawood.

Mr. Dawood said a Hindu girl, Naga Komali from Rajamahendravaram won the first prize in the non-Muslim category.

The USQS had been holding the competitions for the last four years to enable and encourage children to imbibe the moral values and principles enunciated by the scriptures.

The underlying objective was to build a strong nation based on moral values drawn from the divine teachings, Mr. Dawood added.
