Kodela inspects venue for Assembly session

Speaker suggests modifications in seating arrangement to facilitate setting up of desks for MLAs. The Speaker said he would write to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and the decision when to convene the Assembly and the duration of the session would be taken by the Chief Minister.

Acharya Nagarjuna University is set to create history as in all likelihood winter session of Andhra Pradesh Assembly would be held in the second-third week of December.

Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao said on Monday that Assembly session was likely to be held at Dr H.H Deichmann and Dr.S. John David Auditorium on the university premises.

Dr. Rao along with a few MLAs, Chief Whip in Council N. Rajakumari, Vice Chancellor K.Viyanna Rao, Collector Kantilal Dande and SP Rajesh Kumar visited the auditorium and inspected the facilities. Accommodation to the Chief Minister, Ministers and Secretaries would be arranged at Haailand resorts, 5 km away from ANU.

The Speaker said he would write to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and the decision when to convene the Assembly and the duration of the session would be taken by the Chief Minister. He also added that minor changes in infrastructure would be taken up in 15-20 days and added that care would be taken to ensure that students and staff would not be put to any discomfort.

The state-of-the-art auditorium opened in 2007 was built with an assistance of Rs.2 crore from German philanthropist H.H Deichmann. It has a built up area of 50,000 square feet, a seating capacity of 1,000 and two seminar halls in the ground floor besides five green rooms. JNTU, Hyderabad assisted in design of auditorium. The two green rooms on the ground floor could be used to accommodate Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition.

The Speaker suggested that modifications in seating arrangement could be taken up to facilitate setting up of desks for the MLAs to write and keep their papers. The Speaker’s chair could be placed on the stage while the Chief Minister and the Leader of Opposition could be seated to the right and left of the Speaker’s chair. Alternative rows of chairs could be replaced with desks, he said.

MLAs Alapati Rajendra Prasad, GV Anjaneyulu, D. Narendra Kumar were also present.
