The varsity has recruited 185 doctorates as faculty
Koneru Lakshmaiah University (KLU) conferred Doctorate on Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) Director General Vijay Kumar Saraswat.
Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation president Koneru Satyanarayana, KLU Chancellor G.L. Data, and Vice-Chancellor R. Sreehari Rao awarded Doctorate in Science to Padma Bushan Mr. Saraswat, at the second annual convocation of the university in Vaddeswaram village in Guntur district on Monday.
The DRDO chief, who was the Secretary to Department of Defence Research and Development and Scientific Advisor to the Defence Minister, attended as chief guest at the programme.
Addressing the students, Mr. Satyanarayana said that the university had set its mission, vision and goals, which compare favourably with those found in the prominent universities of the world.
The KLU had recruited 185 doctorates out of 613 faculty and created a separate college headed by a principal to train the faculty in all spheres. The management had funded for 27 innovative projects valued at about Rs.87.44 lakh during 2012-13, he said.
Dr. Sreehari Rao said that 325 M.Tech, MCA and MBA degrees, 25 gold medals and three memorial gold medals were awarded during the convocation programme.
